THE MACDOUGALL SUCCESS STORY!

The MacDougalls were an excited newlywed couple embarking on a search for their first home together when I met them in 2017.

Their goal was to find a house where they could apply some sweat equity to create a home suitable to their personal style in a neighborhood where homes were typically larger and more expensive than their budget at the time.

The right opportunity presented itself in the well-established “Holliday Hills” neighborhood centrally located near LaFortune Park! A one-owner, ranch-style home built in 1954 hit the market! The MacDougalls recognized the potential in its virtually untouched interior and appreciated the original wood trim throughout the home. The still-operational wood windows had never been touched by a paintbrush in over sixty years! A mauve-colored carpet hid the beautiful wood flooring they later exposed and refinished.

For three and a half years they added their personal touch to the interior while being respectful to the 1950’s era of the home, keeping some features like the cool bathroom tile intact and saving little mementos of its past along the way.

When I received a call from them in 2021, they shared their newest dream —starting a family! The MacDougall’s decision to buy that first home proved to be very beneficial to their future. After three and a half years, we listed the home where they celebrated many firsts together a couple, and sold it to a lovely new couple looking for their first home, mementos of the home’s past included of course!

The sale of the MacDougall’s first home allowed them to purchase a new home almost twice the size for the purpose of growing their family and a massive 22-raised bed garden. After the nice down payment they achieved from their sale they now only pay about $300 more per month. Perhaps the most underrated feature is the seven-minute commute to Mr. MacDougall’s job. He can come home for lunch every day!

Their dreams are continuing to come true in greater ways than the MacDougall’s ever imagined. Congratulations to the MacDougall family who now have one more precious soul to love! Real estate investment changes lives!
